Springbok Blinds was established in 1990 by Henry and Rene Meyer in Brits in the Northwest province as a blinds retail agency servicing the Brits, Hartebeestpoort, and Rustenburg areas. Henry’s brothers and sisters quickly became involved having and managing their own blinds agencies trading by the same core name of Springbok or SD blinds. In 1994 Bert Meyer, father of the Meyer siblings and owner and founder of Zodiac Sound-in 1977 and Mizer Aircraft- in 1986 entered the blinds manufacturing industry with one objective to consolidate all the brother and sister managed agencies as one large company manufacturing its own blinds for its local retail offset points mainly consisting of the Northwest province with the potential of being able to supply other blind’s traders all over South Africa.
By 1996 Springbok Blinds East Rand was established by father and son, Bert and David Meyer. Bert Meyer sold Mizer Aircraft and retired shortly after part timing the blinds. With his technical back ground expertise it didn’t take long to start manufacturing wooden, aluminium, wood look aluminium, bamboo, roller and vertical blinds supplying the public and the trade. The product range grew bigger as Springbok blinds already being in the interior redecorating and refurbishing industry started supplying and fitting domestic and industrial carpets. Laminated flooring and laminated vinyl flooring followed soon thereafter. Because of the companies endeavour to continually improve the product range and service by using only superior SABS approved products we thought that it would be good to incorporate the “superior” part into our name leading to Springbok Superior Blinds East Rand.
We also realized that owner supervision and presence with all installations of our products profits the company and our customers as this mostly cuts out the need for comebacks due to faulty installations wasting time. It is a common site to see the owner of the company high up on a ladder installing blinds. Transparency and honesty is a virtues courtesy in all aspects of our gentle administration. We believe in full disclosure in representation of our quotes without any omittance of size, product colour, type, or installation details whatsoever that could lead to future discrepancies. By June 2019 Springbok Superior Blinds East Rand was bought out by Sonlief Davida Group.
